blueqat announces withdrawal from development of superconducting qubits but some research on silicon qubits to continue

Campaign about Quantum Computing

#Research #Termination #Superconducting Qubits #Silicon Qubits #Software #Middleware

As announced in 2018, blueqat (then MDR) has terminated its research and development of superconducting qubits as of March 31, 2021. From now on, our development resources and the intellectual property and patents we have acquired will be entrusted to government agencies.

The race to develop superconducting qubits, which began to heat up around 2015, has yielded certain results. We will continue some of the research on silicon qubits, whose development has started to heat up in recent years, and will focus on software and middleware to develop our services. In the future, superconducting qubits will be difficult for venture companies to develop because of the increasing size of machines and the need for huge capital.
